GEORGE C SCOTT--THE GABBAR SINGH OF HOLLYWOOD -- CAPT AJIT VADAKAYIL

GEORGE C SCOTT – THE GABBAR SINGH OF HOLLYWOOD

George C Scott was awarded a Oscar for best actor in 1970 for his role in the Hollywood movie Patton about the famous American hero General George S Patton Jr.

He refused the award and was the first to do so.  This is an ample indication that Scott literally lived his role as the brash Patton, and had been affected sub-consciously.

George C Scott was born was born for this role--- he existed to play this role in the movie.

Like Gabbar Singh of Bollywood movie Sholay in 1973. There can never be another Gabbar Singh. Nobody can ever capture the essence of the fierce dacoit  leader in this movie.  The mega star Amitabh Bachchan ( he should retire now, instead of boring us ) tried it and fell flat on his face!

This master piece movie  Patton won 7 academy awards, and deserved all of them. The screen play was written by the young genius Francis Ford Coppola.

Let me talk about Patton first—

Patton was a maverick and out spoken US general of World war 2.  Born into a rich and soldiering family , he was the quintessential flamboyant and larger than life romantic warrior.

His  soldiers were in awe of him on account of his determination and “blood & guts “ ferocity .  They felt safe under him ,as Patton understood that “faster you end the war—the lesser the lives would be lost”.

He walked with a swagger and wore riding pants with high Jodhpurs and Ivory handled pistols at his hip.

He was respected even by Hitler who called him “the most brilliant and dangerous man in the Allied army “

In his young days he was an athlete and stood 5th in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics in the Pentathlon event. He made the US team for the 1916 Berlin Pentathlon event too –but the games wre cancelled due to World war 1.
He was a highly decorated war hero in World war1 and received the Purple heart , after being wounded on his leg.

Scott had to melt all the following traits of the highly complex and ego-maniacal Patton into a melting pot and act it out –
Pattons commanding and over powering presence --his oratory skills—his intemperate manner-- his passion to fight —the rogue and crackpot inherent in him – the abrasive and politically incorrect blabbermouth—the charisma—his hard assed and fearless demeanour—his hard nosed determination—his lack of patience with fools and politicians—his brazen boldness in the face of adversity—the religious fervor—his motivating ability—the compassion in him—his delusions  of Napoleonic grandeur--

The real Patton had a high strung voice—while Scott’s rasping whisky voice was PERRFECT!  It is hard to imagine Patton now, without Scotts regal bearing .

Scott did not play the crazed genius Patton –he was Patton!!

His was a case where the actor became the character.—no wonder he rejected his Oscar!

Let me list out a few of Pattons’ timeless quotes—
In case of doubt attack!

Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way!

Never let the enemy pick the battle site!

You shouldn't underestimate an enemy, but it is just as fatal to overestimate him!

An Army is a team; lives, sleeps, eats, fights as a team. This individual heroic stuff is a lot of crap!

Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity!

Wars might be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of the men who leads that gains the victory!

If everybody is thinking alike, then somebody aint  thinkin’ !

May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't!

Patton was assassinated , just before he was to make an expose about his boss Eisenhower (IKE) , Winston Churchill and President Rooselvelt , the 3 henchmen of Zionist Jews --about the secret mass genocide of the captured surviving German soldiers-- 1.7 million of them  .

Ike was the puppet of Rothschild bloodline banker Bernad Baruch. The king maker in England for Winston Churchill and for every American president from Wilson to Eisenhover ( Ike ) was Bernard Baruch, the billionaire Zionist Jewish Financier, who was Rothchild’s agent in USA and also a Rothschild bloodline clone
